Buying during the Shanzhai season, the hardest part isn't choosing coins, it's controlling your hands
I have a friend who turned 50k yuan into 500k during the last bull market.
Then in the next bear market, he lost that 500k back down to 50k.
His mistake isn't rare; in fact, it's extremely typical:
constantly adding to positions when the market is good, each time at a higher price and with a larger position.
The market rewarded him a few times, so he thought he had uncovered some secret others didn't know.
Then the trend reversed, and his profits from adding at the top turned into buying at high prices,
multiple stop-losses were missed, profits evaporated, and the principal shrank as well.
I'm telling this story not to scare you, but to illustrate a principle:
In the world of altcoins, the hardest part is never choosing the right coin, but controlling your hands.
When the market is good, you feel like every coin is rising, every opportunity is worth grabbing, and every pullback is a good entry point.
Your brain will come up with all kinds of reasons to convince you to add more—sector rotations, positive news about a coin, technical breakthroughs, or fear of missing out.
These are all tricks your mind plays on you.
Those who truly make money and keep it during the altcoin season all share a common trait:
they have a set of rules. For example, selling a portion once it reaches a certain profit,
not increasing their position beyond a certain percentage, or exiting when certain signals appear.
These rules may seem slow, conservative, and boring when the market is euphoric,
but it is precisely this “boring” discipline that helps you preserve what you need to when the market turns.
If you're considering participating in this wave of altcoin trading, I want you to spend ten minutes doing one thing:
take a piece of paper, write down your entry reasons, position limits, take-profit plans, and stop-loss thresholds.
Then stick it somewhere you see every day.
When the market changes and emotions start to fluctuate, this paper will be your best trading coach.
In the altcoin market, passion is cheap, discipline is rare.
