Been thinking a lot about what crypto is actually for in the AI era, and honestly it's not what most people assume. The real play isn't consumer chatbots or retail adoption—it's about building payment infrastructure for autonomous agents that need to transact with each other at machine speed.
Chappy Asel from The AI Collective made a solid point at Consensus Miami: when software agents start making economic decisions at scale, they need settlement layers that don't sleep, that execute instantly, that handle tiny fractions of transactions without friction. That's literally what stablecoins plus smart contracts enable. Agentic payments without any human in the middle.
The thing is, the infrastructure already exists technically. But adoption is still basically zero. Most companies are still routing everything through centralized APIs and traditional payment rails because, well, that's what they know. The narrative around agentic payments is moving faster than the actual demand, which is a pretty common pattern in crypto.
What's more interesting is where the real overlap between AI and crypto might actually show up first. Infrastructure. Compute, data centers, energy. That's where the competitive advantage is being decided right now in AI. And crypto miners have been quietly repositioning themselves to capture that—they've got the hardware, the power management, the expertise. It's a natural pivot.
The broader point: crypto's been chasing consumer adoption forever, but AI agents don't need onboarding tutorials or help managing seed phrases. They think in code. If autonomous software becomes a real economic force, crypto might finally have found a user base that actually makes sense for it.
On the market side, XRP just broke through that stubborn $1.45 resistance on solid volume—looked like institutional movement rather than retail noise. Price rallied toward $1.50 but ran into sellers there, pulled back toward the breakout zone. The technical setup is interesting but watching how it holds around $1.44 as support. Currently sitting at $1.45 with +2.18% on the day and decent volume flowing through.
