Golden Finance reports that on May 11, Jefferies economist Kumar said in a research report that after the U.S. president and Iran mutually rejected each other’s proposals to end the war, the “no war, no peace” situation still remains the dominant scenario. Kumar said that Iran refuses to dismantle its nuclear program—which is a key demand put forward by Trump; meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz is still effectively closed. Kumar wrote: “Trump indeed hopes to reach an agreement, but he must prove to his supporters that the U.S. has successfully negotiated a deal on the nuclear issue—because that is the entire original intention behind starting this war.” Kumar further pointed out that the resilience demonstrated by the U.S. economy shows that the war has not yet had any substantial impact on the United States; while Iran has a time advantage, as its persistence could even last longer than Trump’s patience.
