After all this time, Trump’s visit to China has finally been officially announced. To be sure, this trip is relatively short and the preparations weren’t very thorough—mainly because there aren’t many usable negotiating “bargaining chips” to exchange. Just a few days ago, a U.S. delegation of lawmakers and, over the past two days, He Lifeng went to South Korea for economic and trade talks; both involved communications and negotiations before the head-of-state meetings. It’s probably produced some results—otherwise this China visit would be too awkward.
