Analyst: If the U.S. insists that Iran export high-enriched uranium or cease enrichment activities for the long term, a deal between the U.S. and Iran is unlikely.

BlockBeats News, on May 10th, Senior Researcher at the Middle East Strategic Studies Center Abbas Aslani stated that Iran’s response to the U.S. proposal is “not simply acceptance or rejection,” but rather an explanation and clarification of Iran’s position within the U.S. text. Even though Iran has shown greater flexibility, the nuclear issue remains the most difficult problem between the two sides. Iran has always maintained an open attitude towards the International Atomic Energy Agency’s transparency and inspection requirements.

If both sides can reach some kind of peace agreement in the early stages, it could create a more positive atmosphere and also serve as a confidence-building measure. But if the U.S. continues to insist on its demands, such as having Iran transfer highly enriched uranium to the U.S. or a long-term suspension of enrichment activities, then no agreement can be reached.
