Cardano Web3 Wallet Gets New Update Ahead of Major Hard Fork - U.Today
Cardano web3 wallet Lace has seen a slew of improvements in recent weeks. The update revolves around the Lace 2.0 extension, which brings Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin in one place so that users can manage their assets without bouncing between wallets or interfaces.
In a recent tweet, the Lace team outlined improvements for Lace version releases in recent weeks.
Lace 2.0.3 release fixes an issue where some users saw a white screen and couldn’t complete migration or connect to DApps. It also resolved an edge case preventing certain legacy wallets (originally imported from Nami) from upgrading from Lace v1 to v2. This also brought improvements to DApp connector visibility and overall stability and added faster, clearer loading indicators among other improvements.
The Lace version 2.0.4 release added a default view mode, allowing users to switch between Side Panel and Tab with automatic fallback where needed. The release also introduced an auto-lock timer in Wallet Settings to reduce frequent password prompts. It also fixed missing translations in Spanish and Japanese for some labels among other improvements.
Cardano prepares for intra-era hard fork
Cardano is preparing for an intra-era hard fork to Protocol Version 11, which enhances Plutus performance, ledger consistency and node security.
Named the Van Rossem hard fork, the upgrade avoids an era transition to minimize integration burdens while introducing enhanced primitives, VRF key uniqueness and updated reference input rules.
This update is projected to take place in late June 2026, with steady progress made in preparation and ecosystem readiness.
In the past week, Cardano Node version 11.0.1 was launched in Pre-Release, a version that is an essential requirement to safely cross the hard fork.
Over the past few weeks, the consensus team has continued working on the Leios prototype development as part of the Treasury Funding Initiative 4. Several bugs were fixed in the Leios prototype, which helped the system reliability team spin up a Leios testnet that is now running the prototype.
