Techub News reports that, according to CoinJournal, Zcash plans to launch a quantum-recoverable wallet within about a month, aiming for full quantum resistance by 2027. The upgrade is designed to protect users' funds from future quantum computing threats and to safeguard against the possibility of existing encryption methods being cracked by quantum computers. This wallet serves as a transitional mechanism rather than an immediate quantum defense, providing users with a recovery path when current encryption becomes obsolete. The system is designed with a migration channel that allows funds to be transferred to post-quantum secure systems when needed, avoiding forced manual migration or permanent loss of funds.
