Only then did I learn that Churchill had placed a big all-in bet in the stock market before the Great Depression, once leveraging 400k pounds per week, losing a lot of money.


He then wrote a six-volume, 4,700-page, 1.6 million-word history of World War II to pay off his debts.
Later, because of this book, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953.
