Churchill Downs Racetrack and LG&E and KU (PPL) have renewed their Green Energy partnership for the 152nd Kentucky Derby Week, ensuring that the racetrack’s electricity use during this period will be matched with renewable energy. This initiative involves purchasing Green Energy blocks and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from regional solar and wind sources. The partnership aims to support sustainability goals and bolster the local economy, with the 2026 Derby expected to generate over $400 million in economic impact for Louisville.
