Living in a big city for a long time, some things really can refresh your understanding.
I used to think that people who look good, have decent jobs, and seem to have normal social circles should also have pretty ordinary lives.
But then two incidents happened around me that made me start to believe that many people's real lives might be completely different from their surface appearances.
One was a girl working in Guangzhou, who looked very good and had a respectable job.
Later, I heard from people around her that her private relationships were very complicated, and she had been cared for by someone for a long period of time.
Another was a girl working in Shenzhen, who was very generous with friends and seemed to spend quite a bit.
Later, through some reactions from her best friend, I realized that some things might not be so simple.
These two incidents gave me the biggest impression that relationships in big cities might have long stopped being just about feelings.
Money, resources, desires, sense of security—they all get involved.
I'm not trying to criticize anyone; I just suddenly became very curious—how much of the relationships among young people in places like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen have been redefined by reality?
