US Sentences Two Laptop Farmers to 18 Months in North Korean Job Scheme

US courts sentenced two laptop farmers to 18 months in prison for helping North Korean IT workers pose as US-based remote employees. The Justice Department said Matthew Issac Knoot and Erick Ntekereze Prince helped a scheme that generated $1.2 million for North Korea and affected nearly 70 US companies. Prosecutors said North Korean workers targeted technical roles at crypto companies to access assets or learn company infrastructure.
