The new growth point for ordinary people in the future, I believe, is definitely overseas.

Now, many businesses in China are too competitive.
You do Xiaohongshu, others also do Xiaohongshu; you do it, others also do it; you sell courses, others also sell courses; you sell products, others also sell products.
In the end, what does everyone compete on?
Who offers lower prices, who can endure longer, it’s too exhausting.
Honestly, ordinary people may not be able to compete effectively.
But look outward, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and many small-language countries in Europe, there are still a large number of unmet needs.
That’s the opportunity.

Why have I always thought going overseas is important?
Look at Japan, its domestic economy doesn’t seem particularly strong in recent years, but Japanese companies have invested overseas for decades, with overseas subsidiaries, overseas assets, overseas dividends, and overseas interest, all contributing a lot of income to Japan every year.
To put it simply, Japan also has an “Overseas Japan.”
Looking at Fujian again,
Many Fujianese went to Southeast Asia early on, making money overseas, then bringing back money, information, and opportunities.
Many hometowns of overseas Chinese have been gradually built up through overseas income, overseas relationships, and overseas networks.
So going overseas is not a new concept.
It used to be people going overseas; now it’s products going overseas, content going overseas, services going overseas, skills going overseas.
The form has changed, but the underlying principle remains the same.
It’s all about finding higher prices, more scarce demands, and larger increments in bigger markets.

How can ordinary people do it?
Don’t rush to register a company, rent overseas warehouses, or spend on advertising.
Start with light validation.
First, skills going overseas.
If you can design, edit, write, translate, build websites, do SEO, research, or automation, you can start by selling services.
For example, helping foreigners research the Chinese market, find suppliers, or do competitive analysis—these are common information in China, but for overseas clients, they might be paid information.
Second, content going overseas.
Create English resource sites, small-language blogs, TikTok, Pinterest, Notion templates, industry lists.
AI has lowered language barriers, but you still need to understand your users.
Third, products going overseas.
Start with small products, tools, digital resources, tutorials, templates, or niche categories.
Don’t pursue perfection; first see if there are inquiries, add-to-cart, payments, or repeat purchases.
Language is no longer a problem; AI can make translations as authentic as needed.
The core is to genuinely study market demands and culture, watch Reddit more often, and even some people, when they see “Old Tour” (a traditional Chinese travel story), can notice the home decor behind it, then develop products accordingly.
So, everyone can do overseas expansion; it’s not an unreachable goal.
Start by earning your first dollar, even if it’s only $29.
Once you receive your first overseas income, your understanding of making money will change.
