Trade GT/USDT Using Mean Reversion & VWAP Combinations
here’s a multi-timeframe mean reversion strategy around VWAP (using the visible BOLL/SAR/MACD as substitutes for VWAP-like logic.
1. Mean Reversion Around VWAP (using Bollinger Bands + MB)
· Mid-band (MB: ~7.35–7.47) acts as your proxy for VWAP/equilibrium.
· Entry: Price below MB but recovering → long; above MB but rolling over → short.
· Target: Opposite band (LB ~7.17–7.40 or UB ~7.51–7.54).
· Stop: Close beyond the band you traded from (e.g., long stop below LB).
2. Trend Confirmation & Bias
· Higher timeframe (4h / 1D):
· 30d +11.19%, 90d +6.58% → mild uptrend.
· But 180d -36.97%, 1y -66.43% → long-term bearish.
· Intraday bias:
· Align longs with price above 1h MB and MACD >0 (first image: MACD 0.01, DIF>DEA).
· Align shorts with MACD <0 (second image: MACD -0.01, DIF price).
3. Breakout + Pullback Combinations
· Breakout: Price closes above UB (7.54) on > avg volume → wait for pullback to MB (7.35–7.47) to enter long.
· Breakdown: Price closes below LB (7.17–7.40) → wait for pullback to MB to enter short.
· Invalidation: Pullback fails (e.g., retest UB again without holding).
4. Risk Management with VWAP/MB
· Stop loss: 1.5× ATR (implied from BB width ~0.3–0.4) beyond entry.
· Take profit: 1:2 risk-reward minimum (e.g., risk 0.10 → target 0.20).
· Trail stop: Once price exceeds 1.5× initial target, trail below MB.
5. Combining with Other Tools (as you requested)
Tool Enhancement
EMA (e.g., 20 & 50) Only long above both EMAs on 1h; only short below both. Crossover of EMAs → confirm bias.
Anchored VWAP Anchor from the May 1 low (~7.36 area). Price above anchored VWAP = bullish intraday.
Higher-timeframe alignment Check 4h trend first. If 4h MB sloping up, take only longs on 1h mean reversion.
Volume filter Require volume > 20-period average on reversion entry candle (avoid fakeouts).
Example trade (from your data)
· 15m chart
· MB = 7.47, UB = 7.51, LB = 7.42
· Price ~7.36 (below MB and near LB).
· MACD ~ -0.00 to -0.01 (bearish momentum fading).
· Plan: Wait for price to climb back above 7.42 (LB) with volume, then long to 7.47–7.51. Stop below 7.40.
· Higher timeframe check: 30d up → favors long; but 1y down → keep tight stop, don’t hold overnight.
Summary Checklist (Anti-whipsaw)
1. 4h trend direction (use EMAs or 4h MB slope).
2. 1h price relative to MB (mean reversion setup).
3. MACD histogram turning up/down (momentum confirmation).
4. Volume > average on entry bar.
5. Stop based on LB/UB, not arbitrary.
