On May 10, according to analyst Tom Wan, although LayerZero has issued an apology statement, multiple protocols with a combined TVL of approximately $2 billion have announced that they are migrating to Chainlink CCIP, including KelpDAO ($1.5 billion), SolvProtocol ($600 million), and re ($200 million). At the same time, leading assets that are still using the LayerZero OFT standard include USDe/sUSDe (Ethena), weETH (Etherfi), USDT0 (Tether), thBILL (Theo), and WBTC (Bitgo). The specific migration progress will still be subject to announcements from the projects themselves.
Previously, LayerZero formally apologized for poor communication regarding a security incident over nearly three weeks. The official statement acknowledged that its internal RPC was attacked by the Lazarus Group and admitted that it had mistakenly allowed LayerZero Labs DVN to serve as a 1/1 verification node for high-value transactions, resulting in a single point of failure.
