Just realized how important it is to keep your SASSA details current, especially with December payments coming up. Been seeing people miss payments because they didn't update their banking info in time. If you're on a permanent grant like old age or disability, you gotta go to the SASSA office in person - can't do it online. Need to bring your ID, proof of the new bank account (bank statement not older than 3 months), and they'll process it. Takes about 21 working days to verify with the bank, so you want to submit before the 15th of the month if you want it active for next month's payment. The account has to be in your name only though, no joint accounts. For SRD R370 grant holders, it's different - you can actually update your banking details online through their portal, which is way faster. Just enter your ID number, they send you a secure SMS link, and you update from there. Phone number updates work the same way - need that OTP verification. Honestly, if you're having trouble with the online process, just call 0800 60 10 11 or visit your local office. Better to sort it out properly than risk missing a payment. Have you updated your details yet or still putting it off?
