Been doing some research on which crypto will explode in the coming months and honestly, there are some solid candidates worth paying attention to. Let me break down what I'm seeing.
First off, the fundamentals matter way more than people think when evaluating which crypto will explode. You've gotta look at the tech stack, real use cases, the team behind it, plus external stuff like regulation and market sentiment. That's the framework I'm using here.
So I've been tracking a few Layer 1s that seem positioned for big moves. Kaspa caught my eye because it's doing something different with blockDAG architecture instead of the traditional chain structure. The GHOSTDAG protocol lets multiple blocks process in parallel, so you're getting one block per second with solid security. Marathon Digital, one of the biggest mining operations, just went all-in on Kaspa mining hardware. That's the kind of institutional attention that matters. Currently trading around $0.04, way below its ATH of $0.21, so there's definitely room to run.
Then there's Sui, which is building a smart contract platform focused on speed and accessibility using the Move language. When it hit the major exchange last year, the price literally went from $0.10 to $1.84 in hours. That kind of momentum suggests the market recognizes the potential, and it's trading around $1.07 now. The team came from some serious backgrounds too.
Solana is interesting because despite massive adoption growth, SOL is still way below its $293 ATH and currently sits around $93.55. They're pushing hard on AI integration with ChatGPT plugins for on-chain data queries. If they execute on deeper AI integration, which crypto will explode next might just be SOL.
I'm also watching Polygon pretty closely. It's become the go-to Layer 2 for Ethereum, and they've been locking down partnerships with actual corporations like Disney and Reddit. MATIC is trading at $0.18, down over 90% from its peak at $2.92. Vitalik himself recently confirmed Layer 2s will remain critical to Ethereum's future, so the thesis is solid.
XRP deserves mention because it's carved out this unique niche in cross-border payments with its ISO 20022 compliance. The Ripple team built something that actually works with traditional banking systems. As global remittance volumes keep climbing, solutions like this could see real institutional adoption.
For the smaller bets, Mina Protocol is intriguing with its ultra-lightweight 22KB blockchain design. Perfect for IoT applications when blockchain tech eventually hits smaller devices. MINA at $0.07 is way down from where it was.
Rocket Pool is another one I'm monitoring since ETH staking keeps gaining traction. RPL at $2.04 is benefiting from the whole passive income trend in crypto.
Now, Toncoin is fascinating because it's got 950 million Telegram users as a potential audience. The TON Foundation just partnered with Jupiter to build a liquidity aggregator, similar to what made Jupiter huge on Solana. That's the kind of catalyst that could make 2026 the year TON becomes a real DeFi player. Currently at $2.43.
Shiba Inu might seem like a meme coin, but Shibarium layer 2 is coming, and the community's obsessed with burning tokens to push the price higher. SHIB's still in the top 20 by market cap, so don't sleep on it.
Render Network is my AI play. It's technically a dePIN project providing GPU computing power, but it's getting major tailwinds from the AI hype. They're working with Stability AI and others on AI infrastructure. RENDER at $2.00 covers two of the hottest sectors right now.
Looking at all this, the question of which crypto will explode really depends on which thesis plays out. Are you betting on Layer 1 innovation? Layer 2 scaling? Institutional adoption? AI infrastructure? The good news is there are solid projects across each narrative. Do your own research obviously, but these are the ones I'm keeping close tabs on for the rest of the year. Some are established players with serious room to grow, others are newer projects that could surprise everyone.
