Just spent some time checking out different demo trading apps and honestly, the options are pretty overwhelming. Everyone keeps asking me which one to use for practicing without risking real money, so I figured I'd share what I found.

The thing is, what works best really depends on what you're trying to learn. If you're into forex or CFDs, MetaTrader 4 and 5 are solid picks—they've got those realistic charts and custom indicators that traders swear by. But if you want something more beginner-friendly, eToro's demo account lets you copy other traders' moves while practicing, which is kind of cool for learning.

For people serious about options, Thinkorswim is where it's at. The charting tools are insane and it's got this options strategy builder that actually helps you understand what you're doing. TradingView's another favorite of mine because you can see what other traders are doing and backtest strategies with their paper trading feature.

Then there's the simpler stuff—Robinhood if you just want to dip your toes in stocks and crypto without fees, or Plus500 if CFDs are your thing (though fair warning, most retail traders lose money on those). NinjaTrader's great if you want to replay old market data and stress-test your approach, and Interactive Brokers is the professional's choice if you don't mind the learning curve.

Honestly, I'd say pick a demo trading app based on what markets interest you most. The best demo trading app for someone learning options is totally different from someone who wants to trade futures. Just grab one with solid charting, realistic execution, and ideally multiple asset classes so you can explore. What's your main focus—stocks, crypto, or something else?
