Just realized a lot of people are still struggling with updating their SASSA details, especially when December payments roll around. If you're on a permanent grant (old age, disability, child grant), you can't just change your banking details online like you might think. You actually have to go to your nearest SASSA office in person with your ID, proof of the new bank account (recent bank statement or official letter), and fill out their Payment Method Change Form. They send it to the bank for verification which takes up to 21 working days, so if you need the change to kick in next month, submit before the 15th.

For the SRD R370 grant though, it's different—that one's all online which makes things easier. You go to the official SASSA SRD portal, enter your ID number, and they send you a secure SMS link to click. Then you just update your banking details and submit. The 350 status check can be done on their main website if you need to verify your application. Just remember the account has to be in your name only, no joint accounts or third-party stuff.

Cellphone number updates are pretty straightforward for SRD—same portal, enter your ID and application ID, put in the new number, they send you an OTP to verify. But honestly, if the online portal gives you grief, just call the SASSA helpline at 0800 60 10 11 or visit an office in person. Seen too many people fall for fake websites claiming to help with this stuff. Stick to the official channels and you're good.
