Just spent way too long figuring out how to check my SASSA grant status, so I'm sharing what actually works because the process is confusing as hell. Turns out there are multiple ways to do this and I wish I'd known earlier.
So basically if you're waiting on that SRD grant money, you need to check your status regularly or you'll miss important updates. I learned this the hard way when I didn't realize my application had issues until way later. The online check is honestly the fastest way - you just go to the official platform, punch in your ID number and phone number, and boom you get your result immediately.
When you check, you'll see different statuses and they mean different things. Approved means you're getting paid soon, pending means they're still verifying your info, and declined means something went wrong. If you get declined, there's usually a reason like wrong details or they found another income source. You can appeal it though, which is good to know.
Most rejections happen because people mess up their information or use the wrong phone number. I also know people who got rejected because their bank details were outdated. The thing is, approval can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks depending on how many applications they're processing. Just keep checking your grant status and don't submit multiple applications because that'll definitely get you rejected.
If the website doesn't work for you, they've got SMS and WhatsApp options too, though I haven't tried those. The key is staying on top of it and making sure all your details are correct from the start. Takes like 5 minutes to check your status but saves you from a lot of headaches later.
