Just realized a lot of people are struggling with updating their SASSA details, especially when December payments are coming up. If you're on permanent grants like old age or disability, here's the thing - you can't do it online. You actually have to go to the office in person, fill out the Payment Method Change Form, bring your ID and a recent bank statement (not older than 3 months), and they'll send it to the bank for verification. Takes up to 21 working days, so if you want it sorted for next month's payment, submit before the 15th or you'll miss that cycle.

Now, if you're on the SRD grant, that's different - the whole thing is online and way more straightforward. Just go to the SASSA SRD portal, enter your ID number, they'll send you a secure link via SMS, and you can update your bank details from there. Takes a few days to weeks for the bank to verify. Also, if you need to change your cellphone number on SRD, same portal - enter your ID and Application ID, put in your new 350 number, they send an OTP to verify it. One thing though: there are fake websites out there claiming to do this, so always use the official SASSA link.

For permanent grants, changing your cellphone number is less complicated - just visit your nearest SASSA office or call the helpline at 0800 60 10 11 and they'll guide you through it. The key thing is don't wait too long because payment delays are a nightmare when your details aren't updated.
