Just realized I need to update my SRD phone number and honestly the whole process seemed confusing at first. Turns out it's actually pretty straightforward if you know where to go. So basically, if you want to change your SRD phone number, you've got to use the official SASSA contact details portal - don't fall for those sketchy websites out there claiming they can do it for you.
Here's what I did: went to the SRD grant contact page, entered my SA ID and Application ID (you can retrieve the ID from the main SRD website if you forgot it), then put in my new number. The system sends you an OTP to verify it's actually your phone, which is kind of reassuring security-wise. Once you confirm the OTP, you're done.
If the online thing doesn't work or you're having trouble accessing it, you can always call the helpline at 0800 60 10 or visit a SASSA office in person. Honestly though, the portal method took me like 5 minutes. Just make sure you're using the official link and not some random site - definitely learned that lesson the hard way after seeing all the fraud warnings. Anyone else had to change their SRD phone number recently?
