The U.S. military struck Iran’s Qeshm and Bandar Abbas ports on May 7, two days after Iran fired 15 ballistic and cruise missiles at the UAE’s Fujairah port. A senior U.S. official said the action did not signify a resumption of war or an end to the current ceasefire agreement. A senior Pentagon official had previously described Iran’s May 5 attack as low-intensity and not a ceasefire violation.
