According to Israeli media reports on the 28th, Prime Minister Netanyahu attended a hearing related to corruption cases on that day. After the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran on February 28, the trial of Netanyahu’s corruption case was suspended. Recently, the court responsible for hearing the case in Israel resumed the hearings, but Netanyahu postponed his attendance at least three times citing “security reasons.” The last time Netanyahu attended a hearing was on February 24. The Israel Times reported that this hearing is expected to continue discussing the unresolved issues from the previous session. In early 2020, Israeli prosecutors formally charged Netanyahu with three counts of bribery, fraud, and breach of public trust. In May of the same year, the court held its first trial, making Netanyahu the first sitting Israeli Prime Minister to face judicial proceedings. On December 10, 2024, Netanyahu testified for the first time in his corruption case. According to Israeli media reports, if the bribery charges are proven, Netanyahu could face a maximum of 10 years in prison; the maximum penalties for fraud and breach of public trust are three years each. Since the trial began, Netanyahu has repeatedly requested to cancel or postpone hearings or testimony citing reasons such as military conflicts, foreign visits, and health issues. (Xinhua)
