Just sorted out my SASSA details update yesterday and honestly, it's not as complicated as people make it sound. If you're on the permanent grants (old age, disability, child support), you gotta go in person to the office—no getting around it. Bring your ID, proof of your new bank account, and be ready to fill out forms. They'll send it to the bank for verification, takes like 3 weeks usually.

Now if you're on the SRD grant though, that's way smoother. The whole thing is online through their portal. You just enter your SA ID, they SMS you a link, click it, update your banking details, done. Same thing with changing your phone number—you get an OTP sent to verify it's actually you. I was worried about security but it's pretty solid.

One thing that caught me off guard: the bank account has to be in YOUR name only. No joint accounts, no third-party nonsense. And if you're doing the cash send option, your phone needs to be RICA-registered.

My advice? If you're struggling with the online portal or need to update your SRD personal details and something feels off, just call the helpline at 0800 60 10 11 or go to your nearest office. Beats stressing over it online. Has anyone else had issues with the update process taking longer than expected?
