Just updated my SASSA details last month and honestly, the process is different depending on which grant you're on. If you're getting permanent grants like old age or disability, you can't do anything online—gotta visit the office in person. Bring your ID, proof of your new bank account (bank statement not older than 3 months works), and be ready to fill out forms. They'll send everything to the bank and it takes up to 21 days to process. Pro tip: submit before the 15th of the month or you'll miss that month's payment.

But if you're on the SRD grant, it's way simpler. Everything's online through the official portal. You enter your ID number, they send you an SMS link, and you can change your banking details right there. Same thing with updating your cellphone number—just use their contact details page, enter your new number, and they'll send you an OTP to verify. Just make sure you use the official SASSA website though, there are fake sites out there trying to scam people.

Honestly, the hardest part is when you need to change your SASSA number or banking details for permanent grants because you have to physically go to the office. No shortcuts. But for SRD it's straightforward. If the online thing doesn't work, just call the helpline at 0800 60 10 or visit your local SASSA office. Took me about 2 weeks total for my change to go through but worth getting it right.
