Just saw the Phillies are in full crisis mode right now. Ten straight losses, their offense is basically nonexistent outside the top of the lineup, and now their manager Rob Thomson is catching heat for some questionable decisions in the dugout. The whole vibe feels off, you know? Apparently there was this communication breakdown during a game against the Braves where they didn't even have a lefty warmed up when they needed one. That's the kind of thing that makes you wonder if the front office moves actually made sense.

Here's where it gets interesting though. Everyone's talking about Don Mattingly potentially stepping in if Thomson gets fired, since he's already on the bench as a coach. But ESPN's Buster Olney just threw out this wild idea that Alex Cora, the Red Sox's former manager, could actually be the guy the Phillies go after. The connection? Dave Dombrowski, the Phillies' baseball operations boss, used to work with Cora in Boston and they had a solid relationship back then. Cora actually won them a World Series after taking over in 2018.

Now that Boston just cut ties with Cora early in the season, suddenly Olney's speculation doesn't sound as crazy. If the Phillies keep tanking, could they actually make a move like that? Either way, Thomson's got to turn this around fast or someone's definitely getting replaced.
