Just realized a lot of people are struggling to figure out how to change their SASSA details, especially the cellphone number part. It's actually not that complicated once you know what to do.

For the SRD grant, you can literally do everything online now - no need to go to an office. You just go to the official SASSA SRD portal, enter your ID number, and they send you an SMS link to verify. Then you can change cellphone number on sassa application pretty straightforwardly. They'll send an OTP to confirm it's really you, and boom, done. Takes a few minutes if the system cooperates.

The tricky part is if you're on a permanent grant like disability or child support - those still require you to physically visit a SASSA office with your ID and bank statements. Can't do it online, which is annoying but that's how it works. You need a bank statement not older than 3 months, original ID, and they'll fill out forms for you. Takes up to 21 working days to process after that.

One important thing: if you're changing cellphone number on sassa application for SRD, make sure your new number is registered in your name (RICA compliant) if you're using the money transfer option. And don't fall for fake websites - only use the official SASSA portal or call 0800 60 10 11 if you get stuck. There's a lot of scam sites out there claiming they can help with this stuff.

Honestly, the online process for SRD is pretty smooth. Just don't miss the deadline if you're on permanent grants - submit before the 15th or you'll have to wait another month for the change to kick in.
