Microsoft will no longer pay revenue sharing to OpenAI
Microsoft and OpenAI have announced the next phase of their cooperation. Microsoft said it will no longer pay OpenAI revenue sharing. OpenAI’s revenue-sharing payments to Microsoft will continue until 2030, unrelated to OpenAI’s technological progress, paid at the same ratio but subject to a total cap. Microsoft will continue to hold the IP licensing rights from OpenAI, applicable to models and products, until 2032.
Microsoft’s license will become non-exclusive. Microsoft will remain OpenAI’s primary cloud partner, and OpenAI products will be prioritized for release on Azure unless Microsoft is unable to support or chooses not to support the necessary features. As a major shareholder, Microsoft will continue to participate directly in OpenAI’s growth. (Cailian Press)
