BYD, Tesla, Xpeng, Li Auto, and other automakers deny being summoned for questioning

Jin10 Data, May 9 — Recently, market rumors suggest that issues related to automakers locking their batteries have caused widespread complaints, attracting regulatory attention. Eight automakers were summoned for questioning, three were filed for violations and investigated, and two withdrew their dispute escalation packages and promised to restore performance. Subsequently, artificial intelligence (AI) related news listed the names of eight automakers. When inquiring today with BYD, Tesla, Xpeng, Li Auto, NIO, Seres, Geely Zeekr, and GAC Aion, BYD, Tesla, Xpeng, Li Auto, and GAC Aion have all explicitly denied the reports. A Tesla representative stated that they have not been summoned by regulators due to battery locking issues; all Tesla software updates undergo strict testing and filing. The legal department of Xpeng Group issued a statement saying, “After verification, our company has not recently received any such false information about a ‘summons,’ nor is there any investigation filed against us.” Li Auto stated that the above news is false, and Li Auto has not been summoned by regulators over battery locking issues. BYD’s official statement said, “Recently, false rumors have appeared online claiming that BYD was summoned or filed for investigation; these claims are purely false rumors.” GAC Aion also issued a statement saying, “GAC Aion has never been summoned by relevant authorities over false information, nor is it on the list of companies under investigation.”
