BYD, Tesla, XPeng, Li Auto, and other automakers deny being summoned for interviews
Odaily Planet Daily reported that market rumors say that car companies’ “lock power” measures have triggered widespread complaints, drawing regulatory attention. Eight car companies were summoned for questioning, three were filed for investigation due to alleged violations, and two withdrew dispute escalation packages and promised to restore performance. Subsequently, online artificial intelligence (AI)-related reports listed the names of eight car companies.
When contacted for confirmation today—BYD, Tesla, XPeng, Li Auto, NIO, Seres Aito (Seres Aiyu), Geely Zeekr, and GAC Aion—BYD, Tesla, XPeng, Li Auto, and GAC Aion have already explicitly denied the reports. A person from Tesla said that Tesla was not summoned by regulators over “lock power.” They added that all Tesla software updates undergo rigorous testing and are filed accordingly. The legal department of XPeng Group said in a statement, “After verification, our company has not recently received any so-called ‘summons’ mentioned in such false information, nor does any case exist that has been filed for investigation.” Li Auto said that the above information is false and that Li Auto has not been summoned by regulators over “lock power” issues. BYD’s official post stated, “Recently, false rumors appeared online claiming that ‘BYD has been summoned and filed for investigation.’ This content is purely fabricated misinformation.” GAC Aion’s official post also stated, “GAC Aion has never been summoned by relevant competent authorities regarding matters involved in false information, nor is it included on any list of companies under investigation.” (First Financial)
