China's shipbuilding industry sees rapid growth in new orders in the first quarter

In the first quarter of 2026, China’s shipbuilding completion volume reached 15.68 million deadweight tons, a year-on-year increase of 46.0%, with new orders totaling 59.53 million deadweight tons, a year-on-year increase of 195.2%. At the same time, China’s shipbuilding industry has also delivered impressive results in green transformation, with a dense delivery and mass rollout of new energy-powered ships such as methanol, LNG, and pure electric vessels, comprehensive breakthroughs in green technology, and a continuous shift in order structure towards high-end and low-carbon solutions.
