Yum Brands is considering selling Pizza Hut, a move hinted at by CEO Chris Turner, due to the chain’s prolonged struggles and Yum’s asset-light business model. Pizza Hut has faced negative same-store sales for years and lost its top spot to Domino’s, with its problems stemming from trend-chasing and a departure from its core strengths. A divestiture might ultimately be the best path forward for the brand given the numerous failed turnaround efforts.
