Recently, everyone has been confused by words like "data availability / ordering / finality," but actually, just follow one main thread: who do you trust to keep the books, who is in line, and when is it truly considered finalized.
Can the data be retrieved and re-verified by others (otherwise, if something goes wrong, you're just left staring)? Who has the authority to determine the order (the more centralized, the easier it is to manipulate)? How long does it take to feel confident about finality (waiting too long can cause frustration)?
Then, looking at the recent anxiety over staking unlocks and unlock calendars being repeatedly pushed, it’s basically about "when is it considered certain": on-chain unlocks are certain, but the market’s absorption speed is uncertain.
For voting/proposals, I now care more about whether these uncertainties are clearly explained, rather than just piling up terminology.
