Lately, I’ve been feeling like the on-chain data is “lagging,” but it’s not necessarily your network connection. Many pages behind the scenes either rely on indexers/subgraphs to fetch historical data or directly call RPCs to read the chain. When the indexer is slow to sync, you see balances, holdings, and task progress initially blank then suddenly pop up; on the RPC side, it’s more realistic—rate limiting triggers timeouts/retries, and the front end just spins like crazy.

Recently, testnet incentives and points are being heavily pushed, and everyone is watching for “whether the mainnet will issue tokens.” When request volumes spike, these services are the first to struggle. My habit is: don’t rely on just one data source, refresh or switch RPCs before key operations, confirm the address and authorization scope before signing, because when lag occurs, it’s easier to accidentally give unlimited permissions… just thinking about it makes my scalp tingle.
