Meta is preparing to integrate stablecoins.
In response to this news, Elizabeth Warren drafted a letter demanding clarification.
She expressed concerns about risks to the financial system due to the company's crypto experiments.
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren sent an official letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg following reports of a possible stablecoin integration into the company's services.
The political figure calls for details on testing crypto payments ahead of a potential launch as early as the second half of 2026.
In the letter, Warren emphasized that the lack of transparency in Meta's plans raises serious concerns, especially considering the company's previous failed attempt to launch its own stablecoin, Libra.
"Any attempt to control, influence, or favor a stablecoin on Meta's platforms — even if it involves a third-party stablecoin — could have serious consequences for competition, privacy, payment system integrity, and financial stability," the senator noted.
