U.S. Jobs Beat Forecasts as Nasdaq Climbs 1.4%

U.S. payrolls added 115,000 jobs in April, above the 65,000 analysts expected, and the Nasdaq Composite rose as much as 1.4% on Friday. The unemployment rate held at 4.3%, while average hourly earnings rose 0.2% for the month and 3.6% from a year earlier, both below estimates. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said job gains broadened into transportation and warehousing and retail, even as manufacturing and federal government employment declined.
