Just now I got the itch again and wanted to chase a move. I stared at the candlestick chart the way you’d stare at pudding in a pot— the more you stir, the more you get carried away... So I stopped and asked myself: Did I really get new information, or am I just seeing other people shout, seeing the funding rate skyrocket ridiculously, and letting my emotions add to my position for me? These days, the chat is also arguing about “whether to reverse or keep squeezing the bubble.” To be honest, I don’t really know either. But with something like extreme funding rates, it’s often not rewarding the people who rush in—it’s rewarding the ones who can hold their nerve. Not long ago, I even had the impulse to “exit,” even to uninstall the trading app. After cooling down, though, I realized uninstalling won’t fix the urge to act rashly. What I can do is keep my position smaller, write down my plan, go slower, and don’t treat emotions as signals.
