The US-Iran conflict has escalated again in the Strait of Hormuz.

On May 7th, three US Navy destroyers crossed the strait, leading to direct military confrontation between the two sides.

Clashes and accusations

The US Central Command claimed to have intercepted Iranian missiles and drones, and targeted their military facilities, emphasizing no intention to escalate; Iran accused US forces of violating the ceasefire, attacking oil tankers and coastal areas, then responded with missiles and drones, claiming to have hit enemy ships causing "significant damage" before the other side withdrew.

Reactions and developments

Trump confirmed the ships were attacked but said they were not damaged, threatening that if Iran does not sign an agreement, they will face harsher strikes, and also stated that the ceasefire is effective and negotiations are going smoothly. Pakistan and Switzerland have expressed willingness to mediate. Currently, both sides are fighting while negotiating, trying to exchange limited military actions for bargaining chips, with the situation highly tense.
