Lam Research just announced Sesha Varadarajan is getting promoted to COO starting March 2024, replacing Pat Lord who's retiring after like 20+ years there. Varadarajan was running their global product group before this, so not exactly a surprise move internally but still a pretty big deal in the semiconductor equipment space. The company's also bringing Anirudh Devgan from Cadence Design Systems onto the board, so looks like they're shuffling the leadership deck pretty intentionally. Stock was up slightly on the news, trading around $230 in pre-market. These kinds of executive transitions in semiconductor manufacturing don't usually grab headlines unless you're already following the sector, but Varadarajan's track record with product strategy could be interesting to watch going forward.
