So I was curious the other day whether my dog could have some of the orange I was eating, and turns out dogs can totally have oranges—just gotta be smart about it. Found out they're actually packed with stuff like vitamin C, fiber, calcium, and potassium, which is pretty cool for their health. The thing is though, you can't just hand them the whole fruit. I learned that dogs oranges should be given in moderation, like maybe one to three slices max, and it should only make up about 10% of what they eat daily. Too much can mess with their stomach and cause issues.

Here's what caught me off guard: you absolutely have to remove the peel and seeds first because apparently there are toxins in there that aren't good for them. And definitely don't give them canned oranges from the store—those have way too much added sugar. Fresh is the way to go if you're gonna do it.

I also read that puppies need to be introduced to oranges slowly and in tiny amounts since their digestive systems are more sensitive than adult dogs. If your pup has diabetes, skip it entirely because of the sugar content. But for healthy dogs, the vitamin C and fiber seem to actually help with their immune system and digestion, which is kind of nice. Honestly, it's one of those treats that's better than some of the processed stuff, but you definitely want to check with your vet first before adding anything new to their diet. Anyone else give their dog oranges?
