So I was scrolling and found this wild rabbit hole about the most expensive things in the world right now, and honestly some of these are absolutely insane.
Like, everyone talks about Bezos' crazy purchases, but did you know he has a $42 million clock that's supposed to run for 10,000 years? A CLOCK. Meanwhile his Beverly Hills mansion is $165 million. That's just one guy's real estate collection.
But here's where it gets really weird - there's this dead shark in formaldehyde that sold for $8 million. Damien Hirst made it back in 1991 and apparently that's considered fine art now? I genuinely don't understand the art world sometimes.
The actual most expensive thing though is this yacht called History Supreme. $4.5 billion. Not the biggest yacht (that's Bezos' Y721 at $500 million), but it's covered in literal gold and platinum. Like, the railings, the deck, the anchor - all gold. Someone actually bought this.
Then you've got paintings going for $275 million, pink diamonds for $23 million, and some mansion in France for half a billion dollars. There's also this building in Mumbai called Antilia that's worth $2 billion and has 9 elevators and 3 helipads.
I'm genuinely curious what the most expensive thing in the world is now in 2026 though. These numbers are from a few years back and honestly the ultra-wealthy probably have even crazier stuff by now. Anyone know if anything topped the $4.5B yacht?
