Pi Network Hits 421000 Active Nodes Ahead Of Major Protocol 23 Upgrade
Pi Network reaches 421,000 active nodes and over 10 billion PI migrated ahead of the Protocol 23 upgrade deadline.
Pi Network has reported a major infrastructure milestone as active mainnet nodes reached 421,000 before the planned Protocol 23 upgrade.
The development comes as more than 10 billion PI has already migrated to mainnet.
The Pi Core Team has also reminded node operators to complete the Protocol 23 upgrade by May 15, 2026, to keep their connection to the network active.
Mainnet Nodes Reach 421000 Before Upgrade
Pi Network’s active mainnet nodes have reached 421,000, according to the latest update shared by the development team. This marks a notable expansion in the project’s validator base.
The figure places Pi among blockchain networks with large node participation. A broad node base can support network resilience and improve decentralization.
The growth also reflects continued participation from the global Pi community. Node operators remain central to the network as it prepares for its next protocol phase.
The Pi Core Team said all mainnet nodes must complete the Protocol 23 upgrade by May 15, 2026. The team also noted that the process may take time, so operators should plan ahead.
More Than 10 Billion PI Migrates To Mainnet
Pi Network has also recorded more than 10 billion PI migrated to mainnet. This shows continued movement from earlier network stages into the live ecosystem.
Mainnet migration is important because it moves balances into the active blockchain environment. It also allows users to take part in broader ecosystem activity.
The migration figure points to wide participation across the user base. It also shows that the transition process remains active ahead of Protocol 23.
As more PI moves to mainnet, developers and users gain a larger base for future applications.
This may support more activity once smart contract features become available.

Protocol 23 Upgrade Nears Deadline
Protocol 23 is expected to bring full smart contract functions to Pi Network. Smart contracts can support apps, DeFi tools, and digital services on the blockchain.
The Pi Core Team has reminded node operators to upgrade before the deadline. The notice said, “All Mainnet Nodes must complete the Protocol 23 upgrade by May 15, 2026.”
The team also said the upgrade may take time. Node operators have been asked to plan ahead. Nodes that do not upgrade may lose their network connection.
Protocol 23 is being watched by Pi users and developers. The upgrade could open more tools for builders. It may also shape the next stage of Pi Network’s mainnet activity.
The update comes as the project continues to shift toward wider ecosystem use. The final outcome will depend on the upgrade process, developer adoption, and network stability.
