CryptoWorld News reports that Zcash is undergoing a major upgrade, planning to launch a “Quantum-Recoverable Wallet” next month to protect users from the long-term risks posed by quantum computing. This upgrade is intended to achieve full quantum resistance by 2027. Zcash developers said the measure will be implemented in phases, with the goal of providing users with a recovery path if current cryptographic methods fail. The new wallet does not mean that Zcash will have quantum protection immediately; rather, it serves as a transitional mechanism to ensure users do not lose access to their funds in the future. Zcash’s design allows future upgrades to be carried out without forcing users to migrate, with the ultimate goal of integrating post-quantum cryptographic systems to defend against attacks from quantum computers. This move reflects the growing attention blockchain projects are paying to quantum risks, even though there are currently no quantum computers capable of breaking existing encryption technologies.
