just realized hawaii vacations are insanely expensive lol. like $13k for a family of 4 for a week? that's wild. been looking at places like hawaii that won't destroy your wallet and found some solid alternatives.

so cancún is pretty obvious but actually still way cheaper than hawaii - around $1,100 solo, $2k for couples. turquoise water, beaches, history... basically all the hawaii vibes without the price shock. been seeing puerto rico pop up a lot too. it's like 1000 miles from miami, no passport needed for americans, and you're looking at like $1,500 per person for a week. that's pretty reasonable for caribbean stuff.

tahiti is the wild card. everyone dreams about it but yeah it's pricey normally. but if you go december-february and book an airbnb instead of hotels, you can actually make it work. saw packages bundling flights and stays for like $2,500-3,500 for the week. not exactly budget but way better than the sticker shock.

kind of shocked there are this many hawaii-like spots that are actually affordable. might actually plan something now instead of just scrolling dream vacations lol
