Coinbase has fixed the issue, reopened the entire market and app

Coinbase reports that the company’s platform experienced a service outage on May 7th US time, causing transaction disruptions for several hours before all systems were restored.

The issue began around 8 PM Eastern Time, when errors surged across multiple services due to a malfunction in some Availability Zones, including use1-az4, in the us-east-1 region of AWS in Eastern US.

Coinbase stated that the system is usually able to withstand an outage in one Availability Zone and recover quickly, but the impact across multiple zones this time caused longer-than-usual disruptions to core trading services. Users were unable to trade normally while AWS was managing the affected services.

Currently, the entire issue has been resolved, and Coinbase’s markets and applications have reopened. The company will conduct a detailed internal analysis after receiving an official assessment from AWS.
