Yesterday, I mentioned that WhatsApp is now showing me status updates from people I haven’t saved in my contacts.
A few of you suggested it might be a shared group mention or a synced contact from an old phone. It’s neither.
After clicking ‘More Info,’ WhatsApp confirmed the reality. They said I can see their status simply because they have my number saved.
This feels like a major privacy bridge. If I haven't consented to saving someone's contact, should I really be pulled into seeing their status?
