Techub News reports, according to crypto.news, that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) recently sentenced two American men to 18 months in prison each for assisting North Korean IT workers in impersonating U.S. remote employees. Prosecutors say this is the 7th and 8th “laptop farm” case rulings in the past five months, with the schemes generating over $1.2 million in revenue for North Korea and affecting nearly 70 U.S. companies.
It is reported that the defendants hosted computers sent by businesses at their homes and installed remote software, allowing North Korean workers to operate remotely and disguise themselves as domestic U.S. employees. Investigations reveal that these workers infiltrated company networks, with some salaries paid in USDC and USDT flowing to North Korea. Chain detective ZachXBT previously pointed out that North Korean IT workers have infiltrated over 40 DeFi projects, involving at least 25 crypto hacking cases.
