CryptoWorld News: OpenAI's $18 billion self-developed AI chip project has encountered difficulties due to Broadcom's demand for Microsoft to commit to purchasing 40% of the chips, delaying mass production until 2027. Last fall, OpenAI announced a partnership with Broadcom in an attempt to reduce reliance on NVIDIA, but currently, the two sides are at an impasse over funding issues. Broadcom hopes Microsoft will buy the initial batch of chips in its data centers as a guarantee for recouping the investment. If Microsoft does not purchase, OpenAI will face pressure to find a new buyer. Sachin Katti, an executive in charge of the project, warned that relying on Microsoft's purchase commitments will limit long-term development. Due to Broadcom's capacity allocation at TSMC, the first inference chip is expected to enter large-scale production only by 2027.
