Trading on Gate for so long, from chasing high leverage and frequent trading to now doing trend-following with a Zen mindset and discipline, I gradually realize a truth: making money in the crypto world is never about predicting every market move, but about risk control, position sizing, and mindset.
When I first entered the market, I always thought about getting rich overnight, itching to trade with every price fluctuation, greedy when prices rise and unwilling to take profits, hopeful when prices fall and reluctant to cut losses. As a result, I was washed out back and forth, frequently caught in positions, and the small profits I made were all wiped out in big corrections. I always thought I could predict the highs and lows, but in the end, I realized the market never moves according to our expectations.
Through slow reflection, I understood several hard truths: First, never fully commit your capital or go all-in. Leave some room for maneuver; only then can you have the confidence to add to your position during a correction. Once heavily invested, your mindset collapses, and your actions become emotional. Second, only trade what you understand. Don’t trade frequently during choppy markets; don’t fight against the trend during a strong move. If you don’t understand the market, stay on the sidelines and observe—being in cash is also a way to make money. Third, strictly set take-profit and stop-loss levels. Don’t chase the last wave of profits or hold through bottomless drops. Preserve your capital to have endless opportunities to bounce back. Fourth, don’t let emotions dictate your rhythm. Follow the crowd when they call for a bull run, cut losses when others panic—if you always follow emotions, you’re destined to be harvested like a weed.
The longer I trade on Gate, the clearer it becomes: skills can be learned gradually, and timing can be practiced over time, but self-discipline and risk management are the core to long-term survival. The crypto market is never short of opportunities; what’s lacking are those who can protect their principal, keep a steady mindset, and follow discipline.
I don’t seek overnight riches, only steady compound growth; I don’t aim to catch every move, only to earn within my understanding. Market opportunities are frequent, but capital isn’t always available. Maintain your rhythm, respect the market, and only then can you sustain a long-term presence in the crypto space.
