Lately I've been messing around with cross-chain again, and it's really slow and annoying. The "waiting for confirmation" message on the wallet makes me want to turn it off after watching it for a while. But then I realized, a slower process isn't just a waste of time: the multi-signature on the bridge needs more people, oracles need data feeds, and if on-chain and off-chain don't match up, problems are easy to happen. The more impatient you are, the more likely you are to fall into the trap of "it's almost credited" luck. Now looking back at the staking and shared security setups that are criticized as "nested dolls," I can also understand why everyone is nervous: the more the yields stack up, the more the underlying security assumptions look like building blocks. Anyway, I'm still the same as always—if I can wait, I wait; if I can avoid cross-chain, I avoid it. Peace of mind first.
